Bonnie Jean Mitchell

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Tim Thornton, Associate Pastor First Baptist Lubbock, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Bonnie was born on July 25, 1934, in Loco, Texas, to the late Estle McCarver and Zelma Stephens.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard B. Mitchell Jr. of Lubbock.

Bonnie and Leonard married on January 15, 1950, at Levelland’s First Baptist Church, remaining lovingly devoted to each other until Leonards death in 2010. Throughout her life she supported her husband and family as a homemaker while also holding various jobs outside the home. Bonnie was a member of First Baptist Church Lubbock since the 1960’s and was a long time member of the Joy Class in that congregation. She was a very devoted Christian from an early age, when she received Christ into her life.

Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memories are her two sons: Larry Mitchell and wife Vickie of Fredericksburg and Gary Mitchell and wife Dana of Lubbock; three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren: Garrett and wife Kobi and their children Liam, Luke, and Laini of Virginia; Matthew and wife Erin and their children Jesse, Leighann, Alexanna, Jacob, Matilyn, and Atticus of Lubbock; and Brittany and husband John and their children Penelope and Charlotte of Wisconsin; three sisters, Lavell and Jack Anderson of Oklahoma, Dr. LaDonna Watson and Glenda Stanford of Georgetown, and Audrey White of Houston.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Wilshire Place for their care of Bonnie in the last year.
