

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Ross Zajicek announces his passing on December 8th, 2019, at the age of 75, following a residential accident. Charles is lovingly survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol, as well as a daughter, Kelly Burrus. He was also “Pop” to Stephen Burrus, Michael Burrus, and Rachael Foster. Great grandchildren include Wyatt Foster and Michael Burrus II. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Zajicek.
Charles was born in Borger, TX. on Jan, 29, 1944 to Joe and Corine (Rollins) Zajicek. He was a 1962 graduate of Borger H.S. and went on to graduate from college at NTSU. Charles worked for UPS in Grand Prairie, TX in the Transportation and Safety departments for over forty years, where he wrote safety articles for his division, and was active in The Teamsters Union.
He and Carol were members of Hillcrest Park Baptist Church where they taught Sunday School classes for new Christians. They also served on the board of Brighter Tomorrows, an emergency shelter for battered women and children that got its start in Grand Prairie. After retiring, they relocated to Lubbock, TX to be near family. While in Lubbock, Charles taught drivers education courses and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Charles was an avid reader and loved fishing in the mountains with his brother Bill.
