Though an islander at heart, Connie left behind the beaches of her youth to make her way from her birthplace of Antigua, British West Indies to Saint Thomas, United States Virgin Islands all the way to the landlocked Lubbock, Texas in pursuit of a better life for her family.
Her sacrifices will not be forgotten by the children and grandchildren who benefitted from her tireless efforts to ensure their lives were made better. She will be remembered for her strength, her good contagious humor, and her good cooking.
Connie is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Joseph Currid, her mother Elmina Mapp, and her grandson Tyler Brady.
She is survived by one sister Ernestine H. Jennings of Lancaster, California; three children: Deborah Primrose Maynard of Saint Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, Wallace Conrad Maynard of Adams, Tennessee, and Valerie Currid Robertson and husband Jason of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren: Chenne’l Venzen, Gerard Brady, Antonio Schuster, Gabrielle Mariah Bridges, Alex Maynard, Isabela Maynard, Dimitri Evans, and Toby Robertson, eight great grandchildren, three nephews: Dudley Jennings Jr., Mikeah Jennings and Vejea Jennings; four great nieces, and countless cousins in Antigua.
