Cresencia "Christy" Reyna Sanchez

Christy was born on April 19, 1940, in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Cruz and Maria Reyna. She spent most of her life in Lubbock, a place she always considered home. Christy was a woman of deep and steadfast faith who cherished her relationship with the Lord. She lived her life grounded in Scripture, striving daily to walk with kindness, humility, and a gentle spirit that reflected God’s love and the joy she radiated to everyone around her. Her quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering trust in God carried her through every season of her life.

Christy was preceded in death by her husband, Cesario Sanchez; her parents, Cruz and Maria Reyna; her brother, Pete Reyna; her daughter, Linda Vargas; and her beloved dog, Pep.

She is survived by her children: Rosemary Vargas, Christy Rios (Jesus), Victor Vargas (Carol), Irma Sanchez, Norma Torres (Josue), and Yesenia Gutierrez (Samuel). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren — Christian, Christopher, Ethan, Jesse, Joshua, Monica, and Tate — and her six great-grandchildren, as well as her ten siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, located at 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Lubbock.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local food bank or food pantry. Christy fed many in her lifetime and always gave what she had to those in need—offering generosity, comfort, and God’s love to anyone who came to her door.

The family is grateful to the entire staff at the Healthcare Resort of Plano and Custom Care Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
