

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Vista Care Hospice for their tender care of Dale.
He was born in St. Louis, OK on December 19, 1940 to Ralph Lee Barton and Bertha May O'Bryant Barton. They moved to Lubbock, TX. in 1944. Dale graduate from Lubbock High school and proudly served three years in the U.S. Army. He returned to Lubbock to start Barton's Pump Service with his father Ralph, where he served Lubbock and the surrounding area until he retired in 2010. He married Linda Jane Selman on July 10, 1961. They had a daughter Julie Jan Barton whom he loved very much. Dale was a supporter of the community by donating wells and service to the Lubbock Children’s Home, Roosevelt School and many community churches. He was a member of the Texas ground water association and Panhandle Plains groundwater association. He was a member of Roosevelt Baptist Church and longtime resident of Lake Ransom Canyon. One of his favorite things to do was spending time with his grandson Joshua, teaching him the Pump business. Another was watching Treavor grow into a fine young man and being proud of his scholastic achievements.
He is survived by his wife Linda Barton, daughter Julie, two grandsons Joshua Dale Vigil and Treavor Lane Akin, his sister Joy Rojas, sister in law Pat Malloy and several nieces and nephews.
He also was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, camping, and boating. He also loved to travel. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and always had a smile and warm handshake. He will be missed by all who knew him until we see him again in glory.
Services are entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jack Thompson on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Abbey Chapel.
Visitation will be on October 31, 2011 from 5pm to 8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
