Darla was born on January 19, 1950, in Pipestone, Minnesota. She grew up in the area and graduated from Edgerton High School. On July 31, 1968, she married the love of her life, Tim Arp, with whom she shared 57 years of beautiful marriage and a lifetime of memories.
Darla was a dedicated professional who spent her career serving the Lubbock community as the Office Manager for Resthaven Funeral Home. Outside of her work, Darla was a woman of many talents and a deep devotion to her family and her Creator. A woman of profound faith, she lived her life as a reflection of her beliefs, finding strength and purpose in her relationship with God—a strength that sustained her throughout her health journey.
She had a true passion for crafting and baking, creating handmade treasures and treats that her family will always cherish. Above all, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucy Scholten; her brother, Daryl Scholten; and her beloved son, Kelly Arp.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Tim Arp; her daughters, Dawn Cook (Driz) of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Carri Key (Matt) of Cibolo, TX; her brother, Jay Scholten, and his wife, Hennie; and her five beloved grandchildren: Brayden Key of Lubbock, TX; Aaron Cook of Ontario, CA; Madeleine Cook of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and Piper and Mackenzie Key, both of Cibolo, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Darla’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wolfforth Methodist Church.
