

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ in Lubbock with Minister David Langford officiating. Interment will be follow at 3pm in Tulia at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Doris was born on July 16, 1921, near Frederick, Oklahoma, on an Indian lease to Vivian Jean (Simpson) and John Averett Waller. Her family moved to Tulia in February 1932, where she attended school and met Luther Odell Jennings. They were married on March 11, 1938, in Panhandle, Texas, and together they operated a successful farming and stock operation west of Tulia. She was involved with the Swisher County Home Demonstration Club for many years and developed her skills as a cook, gardener, and seamstress, as well as an accomplished artist. She was a long time member of the Crosby Street Church of Christ in Tulia and after moving to Lubbock in 1983, became a strong supporter of the Quaker Avenue Church of Christ. Mrs. Jennings has always enjoyed traveling and in her later years, received great pleasure visiting many tourist destinations.
She leaves behind to remember her fondly, two sons: Cullen Lamont and wife Connie of Lubbock and Clark Waller and wife Evelyne of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a brother, John Averett Waller Jr. and wife Shirley of Dallas; a sister, Gloria Joan and husband Gale Schisler of London Mills, Illinois; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents (1968 and 1983), her husband of 44 years (1982), a son, Elbert Wayne Jennings (2007), and a brother, J.B. Waller (2001).
