

Eduardo Zacarias Quijada passed away Feb. 19, 2013, and earned his well-deserved golden wings. Rosary will be held in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel today, Feb. 22, 2013, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Peter D'Souza and Father Gerard Kenney, co- celebrant. Christian burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Eduardo Zacarias Quijada was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Naco, Ariz., to the late Eduardo Quijada Sr. and Maria Bencomo Quijada. He attended school in Arizona. He entered the U.S Air Force Jan. 5, 1954, at the age of 18. He was a pilot instructor, receiving several medals. He also worked for SPS (Jones Station). He met his future bride, Patricia Anne Hughes, on a blind date, and they later married April 4, 1959, in Washington, D.C. Together they had four children, Eduardo Zacarias Quijada (Christine), Miguel Christobal Quijada, Jose Carlos Quijada (Anna) and Maria Catalina Ramirez (Steven). He was also preceded in death by wife, Patricia Anne Hughes Quijada; one brother, Rene Quijada; one nephew, Martine Quijada; and one brother-in-law, Humberto Valdez. Those left to cherish his memory are his children; one sister, M.E. Thelma Quijada Valdez; two brothers, Jeronimo Jesus Quijada and Cesar Humberto Quijada (Santos); sister-in-law, Adalina Quijada; five beloved grandchildren; six very, very special great-grandchildren whom he loved with all of his heart; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for all the prayers offered during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. John Neumann's Catholic Church Youth or Building Fund.
