Elizabeth Davis

Funeral services for Elizabeth (Libby) Holman Davis, 78, of Lubbock, Texas and formally Greenville, Mississippi will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel, Lubbock, Texas. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Delta Regional Hospital in Greenville, Mississippi.

Libby was born August 1, 1932 to Richard Myers Holman and Vera Mae (Garrison) Holman. She grew up in Deeson, MS and attended school in Gunnison until switching to Benoit High School where she graduated in 1950. She graduated from Delta State University with a teaching degree and taught at Benoit High School. In 1953 she married Ernest G. Davis Jr. and they made their home in Greenville until 1977 when they moved to Lubbock, TX.

Libby enjoyed making and selling crafts, traveling and playing with the grandkids. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ernest G. Davis Jr., daughter Leigh D. McDowell (Billy) of Benoit, Mississippi, son Richard G. Davis (Lesli) of Trophy Club, Tx, grandchildren Loyd McDowell, Sarah McDowell, Buddy Davis, Elise Davis and Colin Davis; one sister, Kathy Neal of Orovile, CA.

The family will receive friends at 12:00pm at the funeral home followed by the service at 1:00pm. Memorials may be made to the Benoit Union Church Bobby Walton Memorial Scholarship Fund, Benoit, MS 38725.
