Mr. Scarbrough was born February 13th, 1937, in Paducah, Texas. He went to his heavenly home on May 31st, 2025, in Lubbock Texas with his caring granddaughter by his side. Elmer graduated high school in 1954 from Quanah at 17 years old and quickly joined the Air Force. He was stationed the first five years at March Air Force Base, Riverside California, where he met the love of his life, Barbra Mora. They married August 11th, 1957, and together they had two boys, Skip and David Scarbrough. Elmer served 20 years in the Air Force being stationed in many places including Germany, Philippines, and Greenland with his family by his side. Elmer retired in 1974 and moved his family to Lubbock Texas in 1975. After retiring Elmer enjoyed watching his boys grow up, bowling, traveling, and riding motorcycles. Later his biggest joy in life was his 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. His face would light up watching them play, building model cars with them, and spending quality time. He always loved spending time with his family and of course playing dominos.
Mr. Scarbrough was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his granddaughter Amy Elizabeth, his parents Olney Lawerance and Mary Elizabeth Scarbrough, his brothers: O.L, Kenneth, James, Edward, Bobby, and Bruce Scarbrough. What a reunion that must be!
Survivors include Skip Scarbrough and his wife Connie of Lubbock and David Scarbrough and his wife Debra of Keller, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the American Legion, a veterans advocacy program. They work tirelessly to help Veterans.
