Elsie Ann Cahill (Henderson) of Azle, Texas passed on May 23, 2021 at her home. She was born January 5, 1922 in Roscoe, Texas to Will Sinclair Henderson and Mary Fields Henderson (Fuller). She was the youngest of 7 children.
Her family moved to the community of Jones, in northern Louisiana in the mid 1920’s. In 1927 at the age of 5 they moved to Burkburnett, Wichita, Texas. In 1940 after the death of their mother, at the age of 18, she moved to Littlefield, Texas to live with her sister and brother in law, Doris and Robert Torrance and sister, Mary Will.
She married Ralph Richard Cahill on September 27, 1941 in Sweetwater, Texas and were married 73 years until the time of his death in 2015.
Ralph and Elsie lived in San Diego, California from 1942 thru 1945 while Ralph was stationed at San Diego and aboard a Navy ship in the Pacific. He mustered out in 1945 and they moved back to Texas. They lived in Lubbock Texas and Elsie worked at Texas Instruments from 1973 thru the late 1980’s.
While in Lubbock, they were members of the Southcrest Baptist Church. Elsie was also a member of the Eastern Star. They moved to the Colorado River area in Llano County, Texas in 1995 and moved to Azle, Texas in 2008. Her favorite things to do were to travel around the United States, fish and quilt.
Elsie was preceded in death by 5 sisters, 1 brother and daughter, Mary Ann Barley.
She is survived by her children: Ralph Cahill, Jr. and his wife Janis, daughter, Velda Barkman and her husband Michael and John Cahill and his wife Debra and multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
Viewing will be held on Friday June the 4, 2021 at 9:00 am at Resthaven Abbey Chapel
5740 West 19th St., Lubbock, Texas 79407. Celebration of Life will be proceed after viewing.
