He was born August 5, 1937 in Point, TX, to Tom and Odeal Abney. Gail was very active in softball; he was a fast pitcher, coach and umpired until his retirement. He retired from Lubbock Electric Company after 23 years, and then he returned for another 2 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patti 3 sons, Jess (Vivian), Tony and Brad and 1 grandson, Austin.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September, 25, 2010 at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Rush officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 5201 82nd Street, Lubbock, TX 79424.
