

She graduated in 1947 from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Home Economics. She married Noel A. Ellis, M.D. in Abilene on June 8, 1947. She enjoyed reading, travel, interior design, entertaining in her home, and especially needlework. She was a member of the Lubbock Women’s Club, Lubbock Christian University Associates, Embroiderer’s Guild of America, and the Stitch-in-Time Needle Club.
She was baptized at age ten and a member of the Broadway Church of Christ since 1953. She taught ladies’ and children’s classes and participated in various ladies’ ministries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, their only son John Godfrey Ellis in 1997, and their only daughter Novis Ellis-Alheyari in 2009.
She is survived by her grandson Joseph Ellis and his wife Kristina Ellis, her four great-grandchildren Isabella, David, Claire, and Daniel, and her great-great-grandson Waylon Joseph Franks, born to Isabella and her husband Harrison Franks in November 2025.
She is also survived by her niece Celia Alvarez and by Lisa Brown, a beloved family friend who was like a daughter to her, and her husband, Les.
