Helen Berryhill

Helen Berryhill, 91, went to join her beloved husband, Louis Berryhill, on Sunday, January 3rd. She was born in Mena, Arkansas, to Merd and Mary (Winford) Risenhoover. She was married to Louis on August 10, 1946 and they enjoyed a marriage of 51 years. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1997.

Helen “Maw Maw” was the cherished Matriarch of our Berryhill family here in Lubbock and will be sorely missed. We all smile when we think of her and “Paw Paw” together again. We know Paw Paw will be smiling today.

She leaves behind a son, Lee Berryhill, two grandsons, Kirk and Ryan (Christi) Berryhill; special friend Dale Patton and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Helen’s siblings, Omer Risenhoover and Georgia Winfield preceded her in death.

Helen was a longtime resident of Lubbock where she has lived since she was three. She worked at the family business, Berryhill Sewer Service that she helped build for most of her life, retiring in 2013. She was a tireless supporter of her son and grandsons all through their lives and spent the last few months of her life continuing to impart life lessons to her family. She held us together through thick and thin. The memory of her strong heart and her dedication to family will continue to beat in our hearts.
