

Graveside services for James William Gulick, 94, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, in Resthaven Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Melonie Park Church. Todd Cepica, pastor of Melonie Park Church, will officiate at the services, which will be under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Resthaven. He went to be with the Lord on Oct. 5, at Crown Point Health Suites. He had been under hospice care. He was born in Enderby, B.C., Canada, on May 17, 1920, to Glenn E. and Greta E. Gulick. His parents were Americans, and he had dual citizenship his entire life. After attending the University of Saskatchewan for a year, he moved to the United States to attend the University of Oklahoma. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a bomber pilot during World War II. After the war, he completed a chemical engineering degree at the University of Oklahoma and had a 40-year career with Phillips Petroleum Co. He married Lottie Roberts on Sept. 6, 1942. She preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2000. Survivors include two sons, Joe and wife, Judy of Lubbock, and Dave of Lubbock; a granddaughter, Amy and grandson, Chris, both of Lubbock.
