Jerry was born in January of 1938 in Quanah, Texas to Jack and Evelyn (Rogers) Phillips. He graduated from Quanah High School and attended Texas Tech University. He married Colleen Bundick in 1960 and they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Jerry worked for DeKalb Seed in production and research for over 20 years and then later for Hobart Corporation in restaurant equipment sales. Jerry was a passionate youth volunteer, serving in 4-H, Cub Scouts, Coronado High School Band Boosters, Trinity Church Middle School Youth, and various other worthwhile organizations. He loved his family and friends deeply and showed his affection by giving his loved ones silly nicknames and cooking them barbeque on his mesquite smoker. He became a born-again Christian at the age of 7 and lived his life to honor truth and to Forever Rely on God (FROG).
Jerry’s loved ones include his wife, Colleen, his daughter Kristy Hill and her husband Kent of Murphey, Texas, his son Jerry Phillips and his wife Syndi of San Antonio, Texas, 4 ‘little honey’ granddaughters; Katelyn Hill, Abby Hill, Jillian Phillips, and Averie Phillips, and one great-granddaughter Kira Hill. He also leaves behind his brother James ‘Mickey’ Phillips and his wife Zoe of Lubbock, Texas, and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who became family.
A special thank you for the kindness and caring of the SICU staff at Covenant Hospital.
Arrangements under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Lubbock, TX.
