Jimmie was born on July 22, 1933 in Waldron, Arkansas to Pleasant and Pearl Johnson. One of eleven children, she left Arkansas at the age of 15 and spent most of her life in the great state of Texas. Married in 1948 to Boyd Jennings, she had two children, A.B. and Jody. After Boyd’s passing, she married John P. Dooley in 1963 and their daughter Shonna was born a year later. She was an active member of Highland Baptist Church and the Faithful Friends Women’s Club.
An accomplished seamstress and homemaker, her home was always in top shape and her grandchildren always had the perfect halloween costumes. Her recipes will be carried on for generations to come and her love for pink, white and roses will forever be unmatched. Her love for her great-granddaughters ran deep and her family was one of her greatest accomplishments; they will miss her sweet stubbornness and silly songs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and spouses. She is survived by her three children; Dr. A.B. Jennings (Gail), Jody Hancock (Dahlen), and Shonna Chaney; six grandchildren: Avery Jennings, Andrew Jennings (Emily), Zachary Walker (Melissa), Matthew Hancock (Kacy), Madison Hunt (Kelby), and Peyton Chaney; and two great-granddaughters, Cora Hancock and Campbell Hunt.
The family would like to thank Beyond Faith Hospice and Visiting Angels for their care in her final days.
