Joe "Dan" Seale

“Dan” was born on July 3, 1945 to Joe Elbert and Doris Nell Seale. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1963. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Marie Hunneycutt on April 7, 1965, and together, their faith in God was the basis in which they built their lives and the lives of their children, Jeffrey Wade Seale and Susan Seale Gillispie.

“Dan” was such a loyal and dedicated man in his career. Dan devoted more than 55 years to water conservation, beginning with the City of Lubbock in 1963 and later serving the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District #1. Even after his retirement in 2011, his commitment continued as he was twice elected to serve as Precinct One Board Trustee.

“Dan” loved many things in his life but his greatest joy was his 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, sports cards, and Coca Cola memorabilia as well as serving as a member of the Hub City Lions Club.

“Dan” loved children. He loved supporting his grandsons in their sports games and their stock-shows. He loved working with the boys through the Royal Ambassadors program at his church as well as teaching them in Sunday School. He especially loved working with Santa and blessing so many children, spreading the Christmas spirit as often as he could.

“Dan” lives on in the hearts and minds of all he loved and all who loved him - and there were so many.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Marie; their children, Jeffrey Seale and Susan Gillispie; grandchildren, Matthew (Ali) Gillispie, David (Savannah) Gillispie, Brian (Emileigh) Gillispie, McKinley Seale, and Kaj Seale; great grandchildren, Blakelee Gillispie, Tucker Gillispie, Paizleigh Gillispie, Kenleigh Gillispie, and Waylon Gillispie; brother, Elbert Don Seale and uncle, William John Cox.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Elbert Seale; mother, Doris Nell (Cox) Seale; his sister, Janie (Seale) Reeves; grandparents, Robert Walton Seale, Cora Lillian (Anderson) Seale, Samuel Hubert Cox, and Minnie Irene (Oswalt) Cox.
