I'm totally shocked. I just stumbled across this looking for someone else. I'm so very sorry for your loss. You have been in my thoughts a lot over the last several years. I think about all the girls on 67th street and have such wonderful memories. Please know you will be in my prayers and may God be with you everyday all day.

My name is Luz Bazan Gutierrez and I was Joel Ernest's cousin on his mother side, from Falfurrias, TX.  My mom Olivia and Mary, Joel's mom were were raised together by my grandmother because her mother died when she was very young. 

Joel was always the favorite in the family because he was jovial and a prankster. We did not get to see them very much after the grew up, but we have happy memories of them living in Falfurrias. They were a wonderful family. 

We visited very briefly after the funeral for his mom Mary about 10 years ago.

I currently live in Yakima, WA and would like to have a copy of a picture of him with his mom and dad.

Oh Barbara, I've been out of town and just found out about Joel. I'm so very sorry for your loss. He was a great guy, always making everyone laugh, helping countless souls, and never compromising what he believed in. He never changed in the 35+ yrs. I knew him & I will never forget him. Joel was a treasured friend and co-worker who brought a smile to everyone. He positively touched so many lives and I will always feel honored to have known him.

Barbara, we were so sorry to hear of Joel's passing. Joel was a special person with a special God given gift who touched many people, in the "Joel way". We were cousins who, unfortunately, didn't get to visit very often but I will always remember the joyful times we spent as kids playing at the ranch in Los Olmos. Barbara, I was saddened to hear of my cousin Joel's passing.  I regret the fact that we didn't get to see each other since our childhood.  We all have very fond memories of him and his family. I just heard of Joel's passing.  Joel was a treasured friend & ex-band student of my husband when he was in high school. Can't think of him without bringing a smile to my face and heart.  May God hold you close as you walk through this valley of grief.

Barbara, just heard about Joel's passing. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Always enjoyed visiting with him at his dental appointments. He was a kind man and spoke of his loving family often. Again, my condolences and may he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Joel over the past few years at work...a short time, really, but I feel fortunate to have known him at all. He was truly one of a kind; he always had something funny to say, even if he was having a bad day. Joel was clearly fond of his friends and family...he glowed with pride when talking of his grandson and his baseball team. My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Trevino...he is dearly missed.

Joel was not only a co-worker but a sweet friend.  He had such a way about him and always made me smile or laugh. I will miss his stories especially about Jacob and baseball. I am deeply saddened to hear of  my cousin Joel's passing. My condolences to his family and brother. The last time I 
saw him was at his mother's rosary in Falfurrias. I have fond memories of Joel and his parents when we were growing up .

Joel was a great boss for us foster grandparents.  He had such a sweet heart and spirit...God probably said, "Joel, I want you with me now".

Barbara and family; although we have never had the pleasure of meeting each other we are wishing you our deepest condolences.  Joel and Joe used to visit us at the ranch in Falfurrias when we were all a bunch of kids and those memories will never be forgotten. As a matter of fact during one of Joel's visits we were in one of the corrals when I noticed a rattlesnake next to his leg.  I very calmly told him about it and not to move an inch or flinch a muscle till I went and got my .22 rifle. What a great, funny college friend and fraternity brother at Texas Tech. Our sincerest sympathies to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of this terrible loss. My whole family loved Joel and we are shocked to hear of his passing. He was always very kind to me as a boss and I considered him a good friend. He was impulsive, energetic, thoughtful, upbeat and great fun to be around. I think of him often and we always thought we would get together again. We will miss him so much.

Barbara and family...it was a pleasure to get to visit with Joel when he came to Vanda.  He was such a nice man..a good man.  We talked many times about our love for '60's music and other classical rock music...I enjoyed those chats with Joel, and will miss not only the chats, but the cheerful "good mornings", and his obvious love for Jaxon and all his family.  Please accept my deepest sympathy and know that the staff at Vanda will miss him as well.  May God give you comfort and peace during this time.
