Celebration of life service for John V. Graves, 84, of Lubbock will be held at 10 am, Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Dr. Randy Rogers officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
John passed from this life Monday, January 10, 2011 in Lubbock.
John Vent Graves was born February 26, 1926 in Zephyr, Texas to the late Owen and Ellie (Andrews) Greaves.
He served as a Seaman first Class in the United States Navy during WWII.
He married the love of his life, Clorie Jennings on April 18, 1949 in Lamesa, Texas.
They moved to Santa Monica, California in 1958 where he was employed by Bekins Trucking until his retirement and in 1977 they returned to Lubbock. John loved to travel and fish.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Clorie, son, John Michael “Mike” Graves of Midland, daughter, Joannie Barnett and husband Steven, 3 grandsons, Phil Barnett, Scot and Robert Graves, 3 granddaughters, Lane Barnett, Megan and Brandi Graves, 5 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.
