Julio grew up with nine siblings. As a child he loved boxing with his friends and brothers and sisters and continued to enjoy watching boxing throughout his life. On May 28, 1964 he married the love of his life, Elvira Garza, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Together they had seven children, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grand children.
Julio was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather but he was also a loyal and valued employee. He worked for 37 years as a machinist with Eagle-Picher. He retired in 2001. Julio was a member of the Fountain of Life Church for 17 years and also served as a pastor and co-pastor in various churches for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed vacationing but some of his favorite places were South Padre, Houston, California and Kansas City, Missouri.
Julio was preceded in death by his greatest love, Elvira in 2018, his parents, and brother Ramiro Calderon.
He is survived by his children Terri Hinojosa (Eddie), Ricardo Sauceda (Sandra), Noe Sauceda (April), Priscilla Singleterry, Lupe Cooks (Tim), Gabriel Sauceda and Ana Perez (Emilio); 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and eight siblings.
A visitation for Julio will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Rock City, 5911 4th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79416. Julio will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park following the funeral.
Serving as pallbearers are Amos L. Sauceda, Eloy L. Sauceda, Zackery Cooks, Jeremiah Sauceda, Josiah Perez, Joshua Hinojosa, Israel Hinojosa, Noe G. Sauceda Jr., Julius Perez and Jake Sauceda.
