

Mr. Newsom was born on September 13, 1926 in O’Donnell, Tx. To Doyle and Winnie Newsom. Dub was baptized in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Wilson in 1947. He graduated from Wilson High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He then married Bernice Limmer, and pursed his education by attending Ross Electronic Trade School. He was the founder and owner of Newsom Radio and TV Inc from 1955-1966. In 1966 he joined 3 other partners in founding Advanced Electronics Inc until his retirement in 1994.
Dub was a founding member of the Texas Electronics Association, and members of the International Society of Certified Electronics Technician and National Electronics Service Dealers Association. He was the 2nd person in the state of Texas to be certified as an Electronic Technician.
Dub enjoyed any challenge that came his way, he was always building something even up until one week ago. During his retirement he liked to study genealogy, make wood crafts, and spend time with his family. He enjoyed playing cards , board games and dominoes. Dub raised his family in a good christian home. He was a hard worker and when he was called upon for any type of help he was always there. Dub had a forward thinking mind, always trying to improve things, or finding out how they worked. He had the utmost love for Bernice and their children and grandchildren. When Dub set his mind to doing things, they would get done, he planned his 75th birthday trip to the lake, so that he could go skiing with his grandchildren. Dub was always thinking of others, even up to the time of his passing, he choose to be a tissue and bone donor to help people who needed these vital parts.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice Newsom, 2 sons and their wives, Wade and Gloria Newsom, Kent and Carrie Newsom, 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Newsom, Andy Anderson, Chris Anderson, Amber Rossette, Justin Newsom and Jennifer Price and 8 great grandchildren, Christian Meadows, Kyler Greene, Destinee Rossette, Gabriel Rossette, Bailey Anderson, Taylor Newsom, Liberty Rossette and Brooklynn Rossette. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Doyle C. Newsom, Jr. and one sister, Vivi Lee Newsom.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home, and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10:00 am at Hope Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
