Lawrence Eldrid Breazeale was born in Brownfield Texas on June 9, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents Warren E. Breazeale and Johnnie Johnston. Also, preceded in death by his 4 siblings, Welcome E. Breazeale of Amarillo Texas, Larene Adkinson of Coeurd’alane Idaho, Maydean Cannon of Amarillo Texas, and Marie Richardson of Canyon Texas. On June 10, 1961 Larry began a 57-year marriage to Karen Dianne Abston who remained at his side until his passing.
After graduating from Amarillo Palo Duro High School in May of 1958, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for a total of 7 years, including a tour of active duty during the Vietnam war.
During his time in the military he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.
Following his military service Larry was employed with Mountain Bell in Littleton Colorado for 19 years.
After taking an early retirement from Mountain Bell in 1987 he and Dianne moved back to west Texas where he worked briefly as an insurance agent in Canyon Texas and then for the City of Amarillo until he retired in 1997. He loved watching his grandchildren in their various activities, tinkering in his shop at home, golfing, working crossword puzzles, and most recently watching the Lubbock Christian University men’s and women’s basketball teams, rarely missing a home game. He was a member of the Green Lawn Church of Christ in Lubbock where he was loved by many.
Larry was a loving and dedicated husband and Father. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dianne Abston Breazeale, who he loved and cherished dearly. He is also survived by his 3 children Rodney Breazeale of Denver, Kelli Rogers of Lubbock, and Holli Coor of Abilene. His 7 grandchildren include Nicole Rogers of Lubbock, Devin Coor of Austin, Alexandra Coor of San Antonio, Tyler Rogers and wife Malori of Fort Worth, Logan Coor of Arlington, Evan Breazeale of Denver, Carli Coor of Abiliene, and Hayden Breazeale of Denver.
He was also survived by one great-granddaughter…..Adelai Coor of San Antonio.
Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday March 6, at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. His family is grateful for the prayers and support of his many friends and loved ones.
