Linda was born on July 1, 1942, to Claude and Virgie Mae Roper. One of three children, she grew up on a farm and attended school in Wilson, Texas. She later moved to Lubbock, where she graduated from Lubbock Christian University.
As a devoted wife and mother, Linda faithfully cared for her home and family while her sons were growing up. In later years, she worked for a credit union, an accounting firm, and in property management, always bringing diligence, integrity, and excellence to her work.
Faithful devotion and quiet service marked Linda’s life. She loved Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and expressed that love through tireless service to her family, church, and friends. For 64 years, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Tommy Stell. Together they built a life grounded in faith and raised their two sons, Michael and Paul.
Linda exemplified the Proverbs 31 “wife of noble character.” She was clothed with strength and dignity. Her standards were high, her character unwavering, her devotion steadfast, and her work marked by excellence. She was deeply organized, attentive, and disciplined — yet tender-hearted and generous. All who knew her knew of her sweet spirit, and all were blessed by her life.
Linda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Susie Stell; her grandchildren, David Stell, Berkley Crum and her husband Bryce, and Pierce Stell; along with extended family and dear friends who loved her deeply.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, at Trinity Church Chapel, 7002 Canton Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79413.
