

After the war, she rejoined her parents in Murfreesboro. In high school, Bell began working at a local hospital as a candy striper, which sparked her interest in
nursing. She became a Nursing Aid, then an LVN, and eventually earned her RN from the St. Thomas School of Nursing.
She was hired as Head of the Student Health Department at Abilene Christian College, where she met Wendell Tucker in 1958. They married on February 14, 1959, and both worked at the college for a year.
When Wendell was drafted in 1961, Bell returned to Murfreesboro, where she gave birth to their first son, William, just two days after Wendell’s discharge. The family then moved to Lubbock, Texas, where Wendell began working at Texas Tech University and Bell continued her nursing career.
Bell had two more sons, Roger in 1962 and Carl in 1963, and worked as a nurse in several Lubbock hospitals until her retirement. She had eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In retirement, she and Wendell traveled across the U.S., Mexico, and Alaska by motorhome. Bell passed away on May 15, 2025, at age 89.
A visitation for Luna will be held Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79407. A graveside service will occur Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park.
