Maria N. Olmos, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on 04/28/2025 at the age of 86. Maria was born in Seguin, Texas on 04/28/1939. She was a proud and dedicated employee of Texas Tech University, where she worked for over 30 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment and exceptional work ethic. For more than 25 of those years, she maintained perfect attendance—a true testament to her discipline and strength of character.
A woman of remarkable resilience, she helped raise her nine younger brothers, often putting others before herself. Her strength, independence, and fearless spirit defined her life. She was selfless, giving, and devoted deeply to her only daughter, her cherished grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Cali.
Though she gave so much of herself to others, she also valued peace and solitude. Some of her happiest moments were spent riding the Citibus, treating herself to lunch, and enjoying a quiet break from the busyness of life—simple pleasures that brought her calm and joy.
She will be remembered not only for her dedication and sacrifice but for the selflessness she gave so freely and the strength she carried through every chapter of her life.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and quiet courage that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe N. Olmos, sister, Juanita N. Olmos, her brothers, Elias N. Olmos, Luis N. Olmos, Sammy N. Olmos, Norberto N. Olmos, and Marin N. Olmos.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Francis Medina (Carlos) of Lubbock, her treasured grandchildren, Brandon Navarette, Kimberly Arriaga (John), and Kailee Medina, and her adored great-grandchildren Giselle and Miguel Navarette, Everly, Selena, and Tristan Arriaga, and a large extended family of brothers, Pedro N. Olmos of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Antonio N. Olmos of Valley View, PA, Johnny N. Olmos of Plainview, Esteban N. Olmos and Danny Martinez of Lubbock.
