She attended Texas Tech University as a Home Economics major and was a proud member of the Class of 1954. On July 6, 1951, she married Hubert “Jack” Knox, and together they raised four children. She was gifted as a prolific seamstress and an amazing cook.
After several years devoted to raising her family, Mary Helen earned her teaching certificate in 1964 and began a long career in education teaching fifth and sixth grade at Cooper Independent School District. Her passion for education and lifelong learning led her back to Texas Tech University, where she received her master’s degree in education in 1982, in the same commencement her second son, Danny, received his bachelor's degree. She went on to serve Cooper ISD as an assistant principal and later as curriculum director, roles she held with professionalism, care, and quiet leadership until her retirement in 1994.
In retirement, Mary Helen enjoyed traveling and working alongside Jack in the family greenhouse business. Following Jack’s death in May, 1998, she later married Richard Wall, October 29, 1999. Together, Mary Helen and Richard were active members of their church, Oakwood Methodist, where they found fellowship and purpose. After Richard’s passing in 2018, Mary Helen lived at The Sherick in Lubbock for four years. For the final two and a half years of her life, she resided with her daughter Judy, surrounded by family and loving care.
