Mary Beth Wheeler

Mary Beth Wheeler, 83, of Slaton, Texas passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 in Lubbock. She was born near New Home, TX, on May 10, 1933 to Thomas Carl and Birdie Bethia Russell. Mary had one sister, Bernice Russell Walker, who subsequently resided in Abilene, TX. Mary graduated from New Home High School. She was married to Jessie Wheeler in November 1951 and they moved to Lubbock. They were married for over 43 years until Jessie’s death in June 1995. In 1978 Mary moved to a farm near Slaton, TX. Mary graduated from Draughon’s Business College. She worked at Litton Industries and later in the Drivers License department of the DPS. Mary enjoyed gardening and country life, and was a long-time member of Cooper United Methodist Church.She is survived by her two sons: Wayne Wheeler and wife Yanina of Lubbock, and Tom and wife Glenda of Shady Shores, TX.

Mary is also survived by her granddaughters: Whitney of Sugarland, and Victoria and Jessica of Lubbock. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, and daughter Linda.
