She was born March 1, 1926 in Malvern, Arkansas to Arlie and Ollie Mae Smith. She married Lewis Richardson.
Mazie was asked to be the first hostess of the first Furrs Grocery Store in Lubbock. She was a past president, 1970-71 and a flag bearer of the VFW Auxillary.
The most important thing to Mazie was her children and the rest of her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandi Oxford Van Alstyne; daughter-in-law Pamela Capps; step-children, Jerry Weldon Richardson and Billy Lewis Richardson; sister Evelyn Sexton; 1 grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Billy Clyde Capps and two brothers.
