Mike Medrano, 88, was born on October 12th of 1935 in Highbank, TX to Gonzalo Medrano and Janie Hernandez. He married his wife Beatriz on April 27th, 1957. He held various jobs to support his wife and their 3 children. Later on in his career, he worked as a translator for the courts and hospitals of Lubbock. He was very active with the church and was also a long-time 4th degree member of the St. Joseph’s council of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed tending to the many plants that his wife grew and also loved listening to baseball, basketball, and football games. He was a lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan.
Mike passed on March 24th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Beatriz. He is also preceded by his brothers: Jose, Cipriano, and Mauro. He is survived by his sisters: San Juana, Guadalupe, Pauline, and Maria; as well as his brothers: Antonio and Gonzalo. He lives on through his children: Carlos Medrano (preceded by wife, Lolly), Carolyn Caraveo, and Noel Medrano (Edwina). He is also carried on by 8 grandchildren: Erica Medrano, Dominic Caraveo (Grace Caraveo), Kevin Medrano (Mayra Cano), Dylan Medrano (Melissa Mata), Eric Medrano (Elaine Maldonado), Desirae Medrano, Abriana Medrano and Matthew Gideon. As well as 8 great-grandchildren: Marina Molina (Joshua Molina), Alyssa Romero, Daniel Romero, Natalya Romero, Caleb Banda, Erza Medrano, Luna Caraveo, and Laxus Medrano. And also 4 great-great-grandchildren: Elena Molina, Laila Fitzgerald, Bellamy Fitzgerald, and Arya Molina.
On Tuesday April 2nd, visitation will begin at 5:30pm followed by a Rosary at 6:30 at Resthaven Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 3rd. Services will be held at 10:00am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Anton officiating. Burial will be under the care of Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial park. His kindness and humor will forever live on in our hearts.
