

She died September 20, 2011 at the age of 91 in Rosenberg, Texas. Mildred married Kermit Ward on November 25, 1939 at Whiteface, Texas and lived in Morton for many years, moving to Lubbock in 1989. While in Morton, Mildred worked as a hairdresser and also returned to college to obtain both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. After teaching for six years, Mildred worked for the South Plains Educational Cooperative as an educational diagnostician for 15years. Mildred moved to Sugar Land, Texas in 2002.
Mildred loved sewing and enjoyed making clothing for her family members. She was especially talented at doing heirloom sewing.
Mildred Ward is survived by two sons: Larry Ward and his wife, Paula and their children (Kelley, Andrea and Ken) and Melton Earl Ward, his wife, Karen and their three sons (Christopher, Andrew, and Timothy). She has 12 great-grandchildren. Mildred will be buried in the Morton Cemetery.

Melton’s grandchildren are Nathan, Zachary and Bennett.
Larry grandchildren are Aaron, Kaylee, Kade, Tori, Kenzie, Jessica, Tommy, John Paul and Angelena.
