Orfila E. Banda

Orfila graduated from McAllen High School in 1973 and married Marcelino Banda on June 5, 1976. Orfila was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher and a friend. But most importantly she was a daughter of our Lord and Savior. She worked for the Brownfield Independent School District for 10 years and the Texas Department of Transportation as an Administrative Assistant. Above all, she spent over 40 years in the ministry alongside her husband Marcelino. Together they would show others the love of our LORD. They traveled across the country sharing the gospel. Her grandchildren led Orfila to be a fan of many sports. She attended countless football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball games. She also attended gymnastic meets and dance recitals. When she was not supporting her family, she could be found in the kitchen baking cookies or making some wonderful Mexican entrees, especially those yummy enchiladas. She was a member of the Lubbock Bilingual Iglesia de Cristo, Llano Estacado Emmaus Community, West Texas Running Club, Mountain View Bilingual Church Camp and LCU Associates.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Marcelino Banda; three daughters, Yvette Perez, Yvonne Banda, and Christina Ramirez; two sons- in- law, Jeffrey Perez and Emmanuel Ramirez; six beautiful grandchildren: Tyler, Kirstin, Ellianna, Daniel, Isaac, Emma Rose and Christian; six brothers and sisters, Dora Perez, Alma Leal, Elvia Elizondo, Blanca Garza, Eddie Elizondo and Enrique Elizondo.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at Broadway Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m., Thursday May 9, 2019.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Children’s Home of Lubbock or Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest in memory of Orfila Banda.
