Phyllis Irene Burkhart Wood

Phyllis Irene Burkhart Wood, 79, of Lubbock passed away peacefully on September 6, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday September 10, 2014 from 6 until 7:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday September 11, 2014 at 10:00 am in Resthaven Me-morial Park.

Phyllis was born on February 26, 1935 in Nanty Glo, PA to the late Woodrow and Irene (Dyson) Burkhart. She grew up one of nine children. After High School inspired by her brother who was killed in Korea she enlisted into the U.S Navy where she became a Photomade 3rd Class. While in the Navy she met the love of her life Bobby Wood they were married on July 15, 1955 together they raised their three children and created lifelong memories. She enjoyed being outdoors, arts and crafts, bowling, and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Charles

She is survived by her devoted husband Bobby; daughter, Pam;son Dirk and wife Kay, Son Park and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Valerie and husband Tyler Merkel, Kayla Levasseur, Mason and wife Kori Wood, and Sierra Wood; 4 great grandchildren; six siblings, Butch, Cork, Patty, Shirley, Judy, and Irene.

She will be remembered by her family as an honorable ever loving wife, mother, and grandmother to all.
