Robert Bowen

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Oakwood Baptist Church with Marcus Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday from 4pm to 7pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Robert was born in Burksville, Kentucky, on August 25, 1927, to the late John and Bessie Bowen. He served in the U.S. Army/Air Force. Robert married Bobbie Davis on October 16, 1950, in Memphis, Texas. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge and Odd Fellows.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Linda Bowen and Ruby Shockley; brother, Tommy Bowen; and a great-granddaughter, Tatum Rae Moore.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years, Bobbie of Lubbock; five children: Mike Bowen of Bedford, Patricia Rose of Sprintown, Karen Taylor of Arlington, Martha Lightfoot of Lubbock, and Greg Bowen of Arlington; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Kenneth Bowen of Lubbock, J.C. Bowen of Gunbarrel, and Carrol Bowen of Ponder; and a sister, Billie Simmons of Lubbock.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made in Robert’s honor to the Scottish Rite Learning Center, 1101 70th Street, Lubbock, Texas, 79412.
