Celebration of Life services will be 2pm Thursday, January 23, in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home with Kevan O’Banion officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22 from 5-7pm at Resthaven.
Sarah Ann Nix was born September 15, 1934 to Roy J. and Lucile (Coe) Nix in Stamford, TX.
Sarah graduated high school from Abilene, Tx. She then moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Math from Tech. She went on to become one of the first female professors in the Math department at Tech. She retired after 37 years at Tech. Sarah was a member of Kings Ridge Church of Christ in Lubbock. Sarah loved spending time with her family and grandsons. She also loved playing cards and dominos with her friends from church. Sarah was always willing and able to work any math problem.
Sarah is preceded in death by her husband Bo Kennedy.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides of Interim Hospice for their care and concern.
Survivors include her daughters, Kaye Grimm of Lubbock, Sherri Scott of Amarillo; grandchildren, Hunter Scott (Linzi) of Lebanon, NH and Austin Grimm of Lubbock. Great Grandson Oren Scott.
