She was born at home in New Home, Texas on Saturday July 13, 1935. "Saturday's child works hard for a living" and she certainly did, working many years until retiring as an O R Tech at Methodist Hospital (now Covenant).
She enjoyed Bible study, Christmas decorations, home decorating, oil painting, bird watching and the color red.
She was preceded in death by her father Fred Garret, mother Mildred Magdalene and youngest brother Lonnie Milfred Roper,.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Murphy and husband Roy, brother Gary Roper and wife Kathy, sister Frieda Reading and husband GK, and sister in law Jo Ann Roper.
A celebration of her life memorial service will be held Wednesday May 24th 2017, 2:30 pm at Victory Life Baptist Church in Lubbock. She is at rest now but will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
