With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Tamra Franklin, who departed this life on October 9 at the age of 52.

Born and raised in Lubbock, Tamra graduated from Coronado High School in 1991. She pursued her passion for business and education with determination and grace, earning a Bachelor of Finance from Texas Tech University in December 2000, and later, a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from Grand Canyon University in 2011.

Proud of her heritage, Tamra was a registered member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma since 1991. She carried her identity with pride, honoring her roots through her compassion, resilience, and strength.

A gifted linguist and musician, Tamra spoke both German and Russian and was learning Cherokee, reflecting her deep curiosity about the world and love for learning. She was a passionate soul—loving, kind, and generous to everyone she encountered. Her presence brought warmth, joy, and comfort, and her talents in music and languages left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted mother, Linda Franklin, and her two loving older siblings: Tanya Parker and Robert Franklin. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her.

A celebration of Tamra’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 21th at Resthaven Funeral Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at 10 am, A viewing will be held Monday, October 20th from 6pm-8pm. All who loved her are invited to attend and honor her remarkable journey.

Aunt Chicks Cookie Dough

Sift Together:

            3 cups flour

            ½ tsp baking soda

            ½ tsp salt

Cream Together:

            1 cup Crisco shortening

            2 ½ cups sugar

            3 eggs

            1 tsp almond flavor extract

            1 tsp vanilla flavor extract

Combine mixtures and roll onto wax paper. Chill overnight. Bake at 350 until light brown.

Yields approximately 4 dozen cookies.
