

Morris was born on May 19, 1931, in Paint Creek, Texas, to Walter Lewis Nanny and
Ruby Medford Nanny.
He grew up on his parents’ farm outside of Rochester, Texas, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1948. In 1952, he earned his degree in Animal Science (then called Animal Husbandry) from Texas A&M; University.
Soon after, he proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, completing
two years of stateside service during the Korean War.
In the fall of 1954, Morris met Jenita Wayne “Tillie” Black in Stamford, Texas. They married on June 30, 1955, at First Baptist Church in Stamford. Together they raised three children: their oldest daughter, Nancy Ann, born December 25, 1957, in Anson,Texas; their son, Mark Lewis, born January 6, 1961, in Hobbs, New Mexico; and their youngest daughter, Shari Lee, born March 30, 1962, in Hobbs, New Mexico.
In 1969, the family moved to Lubbock, Texas, where Morris enjoyed a long and successful
career as a salesman. He and Tillie shared 54 years of marriage until her passing on
May 14, 2009.
In later years, Morris rekindled a relationship with Betty Oats Oman, and they enjoyed
each other’s company for many years.
Morris is survived by his daughter, Nancy Nanny and her partner Bill Murfee; his daughter, Shari Chambers, and her husband Jeff; his daughter-in-law, Annette Nanny; four granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren, with a third great-granddaughter expected in October of this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Rogers Nanny; his beloved wife, Tillie; and his son, Mark.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park in
Lubbock on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Morris will be remembered for his devotion to family, his faith, his warm sense of
humor, and the kindness he showed to all who knew him.
