Will was born to William R. Gray, Sr. and Margaret Travis Gray on February 10, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Seneca High School and graduated from Lipscomb University and the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Radiology at Parkland Hospital. While in Dallas, he met and married DeLynda Ann Howard on June 27, 1976.
After teaching at Southwestern Medical School, Will practiced Nuclear Medicine and Radiology in Dallas and Abilene, Texas. He and DeLynda were longtime members at Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene where he worked in a number of areas and served as an Elder. After retiring from practice, he volunteered on medical missions to Central America and shared his computer skills in several organizations including FaithWorks of Abilene. In 2017, he and DeLynda moved to Lubbock to be near the grandchildren, who call him “Doodah”. He loved to do projects and could fix anything with duct tape, zip ties, and a youTube video. He will be greatly missed as a trusted friend, wise listener, and kind man with a great sense of humor.
His wife of 42 years, DeLynda, and his parents preceded Will in death. He is survived by daughter, Denise Galbraith (husband, Zach); son, Bill Gray (fiancé, Emily Cooper); and four grandchildren. For the last four years, Margaret Beebe has been the light of his life.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock Texas on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. A private funeral service will be held later in the week. Memorials may be given to FaithWorks of Abilene, 1229 North Mockingbird Lane, Abilene, Texas 79603.
