

Willie Mae Davenport, 101, passed away Thursday October 9, 2014 in Lubbock, TX. She was born November 17, 1912 in Valdasta, TX to Theodore and Eula (Johnson) Davenport. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 13, 2014 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Truman Johnson.She graduated from high school in McKinney, TX and attended Draughon’s business college. She worked as an office manager at the Huddleston Dental Lab in Wichita Falls for over 17 years and the Trust Department at First National Bank in Fort Worth before retiring and moving to Lubbock in 1975. Willie Mae was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church.
She enjoyed playing cards with friends, listening to programs on the radio, and spending time with family. She will be remembered for her quiet, kind spirit and always welcoming smile.She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Monty Davenport and wife Sue (Gound); great-niece, Kelli (Davenport) Hartman; brothers, Earl and wife Irene (Pearce), Otto and wife Lola (Jenkins), and a brother, 2 years old; sisters, Faye Nell Young and husband Chester, and Marie, age 5.Willie Mae never married nor had children. She is survived by her great-niece, Kimberly (Davenport) and husband, Greg Baker, and their children, Grant and Abigail, of Broomfield, CO; great-great nephews, Matthew and Christopher Hartman, of Lubbock; cousin, Agnes “Jack” Rucidlo, of Austin, TX; widow of Monty Davenport, Dolores, of Lubbock; and relative, Tommy Gamble, of New Braunfels, TX.The family would like to extend a special thanks to The Garrison Center and their wonderful staff for all the love and care given to Willie Mae.
