

Franklin F. Bickford: Loving father, grandfather and friend; Hero to some, legend to others, his spirit will live on in the hearts and lives of everyone it touched. Frank, 84 years young, of Mt. Holly, Vermont, passed away Sunday July 26, 2015 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with his family by his side.
The son of Merle and Lillian {Clement} Bickford, he was born in Oakland, Maine April 21, 1931. Frank served in the Korean War for six years in the United States Navy. He was a remarkable carpenter and built several of the houses that we see today in Mt. Holly. Frank loved fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends; and visiting with others while having his morning coffee and pastry at the various “watering holes”.
One of four children, Frank was predeceased by his brother Merle Bickford Jr., and sister Catherine Bickford. He leaves behind his sister Earlene Bowen of Waterville, Maine. His wife of 39 years, Carolyn passed away in 2013 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Children left behind include Cindy Murphy and her husband Danny of Hudson, Ma; Tim Bickford and wife Tracie of Mt. Holly, Vt; Cheryl Bickford of Sullivan, WI; and Corey Bickford and partner Renee Sarmento also of Mt. Holly, Vt. Predeceased by son David Bickford. Twelve grandchildren include Zachary, Carlos, David, Joshua, Mathew, Cyrus and Jonah of Vermont; Jonathan, Shawn, and Caitlin of Massachusetts; and Kyle and Marriah of Florida. There are seven great-grandchildren, with one more being welcomed into the family soon! .Frank loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much; they were the light of his life.
Frank was a life time member of the American Legion post 39 in Ludlow, Vermont, as well as the VFW.

Per Frank’s request, there will be no viewing hours or services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
