Iona Mantel Reid

Iona was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Slade Baptist Church in Purvis, MS and dearly loved her Meadowview Baptist Church family in Starkville, MS.

She enjoyed fishing, playing the piano, singing, and writing songs. Above all, she loved reading her bible every day and serving our Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Henrietta Mantel; two sisters, Mary Ann Aardema and Grace Marie Surma; and her husband Arnnie Elden Reid.

She is survived by her brother, Jacob Mantel; sister, Lois Elzinga; her children: Rhonda Reid of Saucier, MS; Mark (Lavera) Reid of Wayne, WV; Jimmy Reid of Lumberton, MS; Steven (Crystal) Reid of Jacksonville, NC; Pamela (Jack) Rhoades of Starkville, MS; Eric (Sheila) Reid of Prattville, AL; and Jeromy Reid of Hattiesburg, MS; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Home (102 North 1st Street, Lumberton, MS 39455) on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Slade Baptist Church Cemetery in Purvis, MS. The family will receive friends and have visitation one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Reid, Steven Reid, Eric Reid, Jeromy Reid, Jack Rhoades, Adam Patrick, James Ladner, and Daniel Garden.
