Obituary of Andrew Iagan Mott
Andrew Iagan Mott was born to Robert and Kathy Mott on March 11, 2003 and was peacefully welcomed into God’s loving arms in Heaven on June 14, 2021. Andrew (Andy) means “courageous”, and Iagan means "little fire” (or as Andy always liked to say “God’s Courageous Little Ring of Fire”). Andy lived each day courageously and with purpose. Andy sought opportunities to extend kindness to others and was always willing to help others in any way he could. He loved spending time helping others, whether those opportunities were planned or not. He loved learning and sharing his learning with others. He loved to make his wooden hearts and shared those hearts with many people throughout his lifetime. At bedtime he would pray for those people who were ever given one of Andy’s hearts. He loved to make beaded necklaces and gave those necklaces as gifts often. Andy creatively designed numerous pictures and brightened the lives of many with his masterpieces. He loved spending time with his family and preferred spending time with his family rather than receiving gifts. Andy loved fishing and would often wear camouflage so the fish would not see him. Andy was proud of the American flag, and he made sure to thank soldiers and veterans any opportunity he could. Andy loved listening to music, especially military marches, John McDermott, Big Time Rush, John Denver, Johnny Cash, Billy Joel, and numerous other songs. He especially loved listening to the song, “El Shaddai”, his bedtime song and “The Coloring Song”. He laughed often as he watched his favorite shows, “Gilligan’s Island”, “Octonauts”, “Big Time Rush”, “Mandalorian”, and “Lazy Town.” He looked forward to family movie night and enjoyed “Star Wars”, “Back to the Future”, and Disney Jr. He enjoyed playing his Irish tin whistle, bagpipe chanter, and drums. He had a heart of gold while he lived here on earth, and he continues to shine as he lives with God in heaven. Andy loved and treasured spending time with his family and is survived by his dear dad and mum, Bob and Kathy; his older sister, Connie; his older brother, Ian; his younger brother, Jon; and Sarah. In addition to his immediate family, Andy loved and enjoyed spending time with Uncle Dutch and Aunt Carol Goodrich; Grammy (Sue Klinger); Papa (Roger Klinger); Mary; Papa and Nana (Robert and Nancy Mott); as well as his Uncle Tony and Aunt Yovi Klinger; and his cousins, Daniel, Naomi, and Andrew. He loved his aunt, Jennie Mott; his uncle and aunt, Duane and Susan Anthony; and his cousins, Katie and Elizabeth. Andy held many people as dear to his heart. Andy’ enjoyed spending time with his dog, Aggie. Andy loved his Mickey Mouse who went to his numerous hospitalizations and procedures throughout his lifetime. Andy brightened the lives of many throughout the priceless gift of his 18 years of life. Andy cherished each moment he had to learn, to grow, and to be kind to others. Andy loved sharing quotes and wisdom with others, and a few days before Andy passed away, he stated, “Love will guide the way. Do everything through love. Love has power.” We deeply love and miss our sweet Andy, and we are eternally grateful that we will all be together again one day! A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Whitten Funeral Home/Timberlake Chapel 7404 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
