Barbara Jean Ferguson, age 73, of Evington, Virginia, passed away on May 2, 2026. Born April 16, 1953, in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Frances Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Steve Ferguson.
Barbara was known for her steady spirit and strong work ethic, approaching both her responsibilities and relationships with quiet determination. She was a devoted member of the Salvation Army and worked for many years at Central Virginia Training Center and Grand Home Furnishings.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially gardening and caring for her flowers. Baking was another of her joys, and she often expressed her love through the cakes she made and shared with others.
She leaves behind her son, Greg N. Ferguson (Cindy); her sister, Debbie Dobyns (Lee); her brothers, Chuck Ferguson (Donna), and Jeff Ferguson (Amy); and her two grandsons, Logan Ferguson and Zack Ferguson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Salvation Army. In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, please do not wear black clothing, guests are encouraged to wear colorful clothing.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 2215 Park Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501, in lieu of flowers.
