

Born in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late John Snead Doss and the late Helen Harris Doss.
Betty was a long time member of White's United Methodist Church and a retired employee of R.S.T. Marketing. She was a former member of First Christian Church in Lynchburg. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and children in general. She was a former school crossing guard at Bedford and Rivermont Avenues and at E.C. Glass High School. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a former Girl Scout Day Camp Director.
She is survived by five children, Brenda Riddle of South Boston, Connie Hensley and her husband, Gene, of Huddleston, Diana Smith of Rustburg, Van E. Banton, III and his wife, Debbie, of Concord and John Banton and his wife, Tammy, of Evington; one brother, S. Glenn Doss and his wife, Patricia, of Rustburg; nine grandchildren, Chip Riddle and his wife, Ashley, Sara Riddle, Amy Banton and her husband, Chris Shelton, Kristen Wade and her husband, Nate, Kayla Banton, Kinsey Banton, Michael Hensley, R.J. Petroff and Amanda Garrity and her husband, Thomas and four great grandchildren, Riley Riddle, Ian Riddle, Brantley Garner and Nathaniel Hensley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Reverend Jack Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2015, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
