Caleb was born on February 26, 2010, to Robert and Amy Shuck in Bakersfield, CA. In 2012, Caleb’s family moved to Gardnerville, NV, where he enjoyed hiking and snowshoeing. In December of 2023, his family relocated to Rustburg, VA.
Caleb was in 8th grade and enjoyed being homeschooled by his mother. He had plans to graduate early. His favorite subject was math. He enjoyed working with numbers. His family would find lists of all sorts of statistics that he had calculated for various purposes floating around the house. Caleb was an auditory learner and detail-oriented. He could hear a book read aloud and years later he could retell the story with extraordinary accuracy. During his hospital stays, he took great comfort in listening to his parents read the Bible and literature books aloud to him for hours at a time.
Caleb accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young child. He loved the Bible, shared the Gospel with anyone who would listen, and had recently begun attending the Thomas Road Baptist Church Youth Group. He had a heart for people and was very patient with his special sisters. Caleb was a natural athlete and loved every sport he tried. His favorites were football, soccer, and basketball. He was quick and agile. He was also a great tap dancer, acrobat, aerialist, and hip-hop dancer, skills he began to develop during 2020, when his other sports were closed down. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He made movies with his siblings, baked desserts and played soccer with his mother, and loved shooting and playing catch with his father. It also brought him great joy to beat his grandmother at Speed and Uno!
In addition to his parents, Robert and Amy, he is survived by eight brothers and sisters: Daniel, Lexi, Rory, Gabriel, Angelina, Emma, Michael, and Matthew Shuck; paternal grandfather, Gary Shuck and wife Birdie; maternal grandfather, Guy Toone; maternal grandmother, Patty Toone; and maternal great-grandmother, Lucy Eaton; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Sharon Shuck; and his maternal great-grandfather, Brian Eaton.
