

Born in Jolo, WV, she was the daughter of John Samuel Cantrell and Geneva Ball Cantrell of Madison Heights.
Carol received her B.A. from Lynchburg College and taught art in the Amherst Co. Public Schools for 20 years. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The love of her life was the teaching of art to her students and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by five children, E. Michael Hopchak, Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Evington, Jacqueline H. Nixon and her husband, Scott, of Monroe, Daniel E. Tomlinson and his wife, Amy, of Powhatan, Nicholas J. Hopchak of Arlington and Matthew S. Hopchak and his wife, Ashley, of Columbia, MD; two brothers, John Cantrell, Jr. of North Carolina and Ricky Cantrell and his wife, Debbie, of Madison Heights; one sister, Glenda C. Bolen of Madison Heights; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Mass of Resurrection will be conducted by Reverend Monsignor Michael D. McCarron, at 5 p.m., Sunday, November 30, 2014, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at a reception to follow the service.
