Born on December 9, 1940 in Oakville, he was the son of the late Berkley and Thelma Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James (Jimmie) Rogers and a special niece, Lisa Rogers.
After graduating from Appomattox High School, he worked many jobs before owning his own business, Rogers Moving and Storage. In 1995, he suffered a massive stroke at the young age of 54 which necessitated early retirement. However, this major life change didn’t stop him from pursuing other entrepreneurial endeavors because of his strong desire to work hard and accomplish anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, going to the beach and spending time with his family. He was known to have a green thumb and had a great appreciation for flowers and plants. He considered himself a true patriot and had an enormous love for his country.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Rogers; daughter Kimberly Bennett and her husband Wayne, daughter Holly Rogers Knight and her husband Rodger, son Steven Wade Rogers and his wife Margaret; five grandchildren Chris, Megan, Logan, Aubrey and Addison; his brother Danny Rogers and his wife Linda; nephews Hank Adams, J.C Rogers, Chuck Rogers, Sandy Rogers; sister-in-law Cathy Tweedy and many great nephews and nieces.
