

Born on September 3, 1937 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Owen and Nellie Brooks.
Curtis served our country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed camping at Myrtle Beach, fishing, hunting, and having fun with his family. He was a loving and caring man and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Van Brooks, Jr.; a brother, Ray Brooks; and a sister, Jenny Isenhor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Dix and husband Michael of Lynchburg; his son, Curtis A. Brooks and wife Teagan of Forest; his grandchildren, Tabitha Lang and husband Bryan of Madison Heights, April Ballowe and husband Trey of Lynchburg, Lindsey Dix of Lynchburg, Pierson Brooks of Forest, and Larkin Brooks of Forest; six great grandchildren; his brother, Herschel Brooks of Lincoln, NE; his sister, Bernice Cox of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
