

David Inge Garrett, 84, of Rustburg passed away Monday, August 3, 2015, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Hilda Parker Garrett. Born September 30, 1930, in Evergreen, he was the son of the late William Calvin Garrett and the late Beatrice Inge Garrett.
David was a retired maintenance foreman for the Lynchburg Foundry where he served for 40 years, and he was a member of Rustburg Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. David was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by one son, David Allen Garrett and two sisters.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Cynthia Phelps and her husband Reginald Dale of Forest and Richard Dale Garrett of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Louise Garrett Franklin of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Landon Jared Dunkley, Justin Matthew Dunkley, Abbey Garrett and Christopher Garrett; two great grandchildren, Palmer Dunkley and Sienna Dunkley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Rustburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery in Rustburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m.., Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rustburg Baptist Church.
